A Family Vacation Guide To The         Appalachian Mountains

autumn_colors

Autumn!  Colors!  The Majestic Appalachian's display their magnificient glory as a dozen or more different kinds of trees change color.

The cooler temperatures and shorter days trigger this change just before the upcoming cold of winter in trees such as the  trees Dogwood, Birch, Oak, Maple, Cherry, Beech and Poplar.

These color changes take place at slightly different times over the autumn season and 'peak' in their colors at the same time, displaying truly breathtaking brillance of golden yellow, orange and burgandy red.

The temperatures become crisp, the sky is ever so blue inviting people from all over the world to travel to the Great Smoky Mountains to witness this magical awe of nature.

It is the perfect time to go on a gentle rolling Majestic Appalachian country drive, travelling past quiet streams, ancient farms and old country churches. Don't forget that picnic basket!

Go on a hike, or participate in any other outdoor activity.  There is no better time of year to stop at  a country farm for fresh orchard  apples.
